Biography
William B. (Trey) Breckenridge III is the Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer at Mississippi State University. Trey brings more than 33 years of experience in IT operations at MSU to his current role where he oversees Information Technology Services and is charged with the creation of strategic IT initiatives that align with the university's mission, culture, and long-term goals. In his previous role as Director for High Performance Computing at the MSU High Performance Computing Collaboratory (HPC2), one of MSU's premier research units, he provided oversight and leadership for all aspects of computing, data storage, data communications and general operations.

Mr. Breckenridge serves on numerous national and international research and computing boards and committees, including the Board of Directors for the Cray User Group (CUG), the governing board of the Southeastern Quantum Collaborative, the Southeastern Conference CIOs Consortium, and the Coalition for Academic Scientific Computation (CASC). He is a member of the IEEE Computer Society, the Association for Computing Machinery, and the InfraGard National Members Alliance.

Mr. Breckenridge previously held a Governor's appointment to the Mississippi Defense Initiative Task Force, where he served as subcommittee chair for innovation and research, from 2018-2019.
Mr. Breckenridge is heavily involved in numerous aviation-related activities. He is a board member and past president of the Golden Triangle Airport Authority, a past board member and president of the Starkville Municipal Airport, and a member of the Civil Air Patrol (USAF Auxiliary) where he previously served as Director of Flight Operations and Director of Information Technology for the Mississippi Wing as well as commander of the Golden Triangle Composite Squadron. He is a licensed pilot with 1000 hours of PIC time in support of CAP missions. Mr. Breckenridge is also a past Honorary Commander of the USAF's 14th Communications Squadron, located at Columbus Air Force Base.
Hobbies
Trey's hobbies include aviation, hunting, and golf.
