Abstract

A new product line has been introduced into an automotive facility in Canton, MS. To help analyze the system and identify the number of body carriers required within the body shop a simulation model was developed. During the model’s development, numerous issues were encountered. These included the following: collecting AutoCAD drawings, documenting standard time, understanding product flow and the interaction of equipment, buffer logic and sequence pull logic. This case study focuses on these issues and how they were overcome.
