Biography
Dr. Tonya McCall serves as the Director at CAVS Extension in Canton, MS. She has approximately 25 years of experience as a mechanical engineer in R&D, process engineering, and management roles within various industries. A partial list of companies that Tonya has worked for includes United Space Alliance (NASA contractor), Raytheon Engineers & Constructors, Viking Range Corporation, and Nissan North America
Since joining CAVS Extension in 2015, Tonya has managed over $12 million in externally funded contracts and research focused on assisting manufacturers in various areas of product development and manufacturing. As an affiliate center for the Mississippi Manufacturers Association - Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MMA-MEP), she leads a team of industry professionals to address the needs of manufacturers across the state through on-site improvement projects, and professional development training. Since 2006, CAVS Extension's MEP projects around the state have resulted in documented third-party impacts of over $7.2 billion dollars and led to the creation/retention of over 7,000 jobs.
Tonya has a B.S. and M.S in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University and a Ph.D. in Industrial Systems Engineering from Mississippi State University. Her dissertation was entitled "Developing an Early Life Cycle Manufacturability Assessment for Conceptual Designs."
