Abstract

Models of the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems building were constructed from architectural drawings by Mississippi State University students for artificial intelligence research within virtual environments. Features of the environment such as doors, furniture and machinery were modeled using CATIA V5. The modeled building was then imported into Virtools as an environment using the 3DXML format. Within Virtools, interactive behaviors and attributes were attached to the objects, allowing an interactive fly-through to be created and deployed using the Virtools Web Player. Additionally, a plugin was developed allowing MSU designers to digitally model human task performance within the interactive environment.
