Myths About Hybrids

  • Myth: Hybrid battery packs will fail and stick the owner with a hefty repair bill.
    Reality: Hybrid battery packs never fully charge or fully discharge. They operate at 60 % of their capacity and never charge past 80%. In addition to this the batteries are fan cooled to ensure the batteries long life.
  • Myth: Hybrid vehicles are slow
    Reality: Hybrids are typically faster than the same vehicles without the hybrid technology in them. A 75 kW electric motor is the same as having an extra 100 hp added to your engines output.
  • Myth: Hybrids have to be plugged in.
    Reality: There are no currently plugs in hybrids for commercial sale. Our hybrid maintains its battery charge by regenerative braking.
  • Myth: Hybrids are dangerous in crashes to rescuers.
    Reality: The construction, the battery compartments, and the easily seen orange high voltage cables make it safe for the first responders to rescue the driver and passengers without any harm being done.

NBC Green Week

Jay Leno talks about biodiesel,and that is what we use to fuel our vehicle. Watch this video on the NBC site for some interesting facts about biodiesel. Jay talks with Joe from the National Biodiesel Board, and finds out some interesting facts, such as using biodiesel sends more money to our farmers. Joe said that if we can replace 5% of our diesel fuel usage, it is the same amount of diesel fuel that we refine each year of the oil we import from Iraq. It could be very helpful in replacing our import of foreign petroleum.
