AFLR3 Library Messages

During isotropic grid generation the AFLR3 library is used and the different phases include the following.

• AFLR3 IC : INPUT SURFACE GRID CHECK
  Check the input surface grid and isotropic grid generation parameters.


• AFLR3 IG : INITIAL VOLUME GRID GENERATION
  Generate an initial tetrahedral grid that includes the boundary surface faces and nodes. If BL/SL/SNS grid generation is selected then the boundary surface includes the interface surface between the BL/SL/SNS and isotropic regions and re-generated surfaces if there are planes that intersect the BL/SL/SNS region.


• AFLR3 IGb:
  If difficulties arise during boundary surface face recovery for generation of the initial grid then the problem areas are treated as isolated regions and progressively riskier procedures are used. An output FAIL file named case_name.SUBGRID.FAIL.surf is temporarily written and then deleted if the sub-grid procedures are successful. Entering this phase is not necessarily an indication that there are problems. However, if a considerable amount of CPU time has elapsed during the sub-grid procedure then a failure is often the outcome. If the job is killed then the temporary FAIL file can be used to help diagnosis.


• AFLR3 SG : SOURCE NODE GRID GENERATION
  If the option to create a source node grid for interpolation of the local length scales is selected then generate a triangulation that includes the boundary surface nodes and input source nodes.


• AFLR3 GG : ISOTROPIC VOLUME GRID GENERATION
  Generate isotropic grid nodes.


• AFLR3 GGi:
  Create new nodes in clusters of ideally placed nodes at centroids of large elements that have all edges much longer than the distribution function.


• AFLR3 GGs:
  Create new nodes in clusters of ideally placed nodes for length scale refinement of elements with large length scales.


• AFLR3 GGo:
  Create new seed nodes in clusters of ideally placed nodes centered at the oct-tree bin centroids for the source nodes.


• AFLR3 GGc:
  Generate isotropic grid nodes using centroid point placement.


• AFLR3 GG :
  Generate isotropic grid nodes using advancing-front point placement.


• AFLR3 QI : QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
  Improve the final isotropic grid quality using smoothing and local reconnection.


• AFLR3 QRG : QUALITY GRID REGENERATION
  Re-generate low-quality grid regions.
