Abstract

This is a NIST/MEP ‘Case Study’ describing the important role of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership of Mississippi (MEP.ms) center at Mississippi State University’s CAVS Extension in the support of product design, testing, plant layout, facilitation, manufacturing planning and operations at Navistar Defense’s plant in West Point, MS. As a result, over 12 different vehicles were launched (including the MRAP armored vehicle), over 1,000 people were employed at peak production, a strong supply chain of local and regional SMEs emerged, and the lives of hundreds of US troops and contractors were saved.
