The day is finally here! After a year of refining the vehicle, and almost two weeks of competition testing and presentations, awards will be announced tonight at the Year 3 Finals awards ceremony at the Library of Congress.
As the defending champions, expectations for the team were high entering the competition. MSU was (again) the first team through Safety/Technical inspection, which meant being first in line to begin testing the vehicle! There was a setback later in the week, however, when a component failure required the team to reflash the vehicle controller. This meant that the team had to start over with all of their testing, and they only had 4 days to finish! With some hard work and fair weather, however, the team finished all events, and was the second team to finish. This is a testament to the team’s spirit of never giving up!
Since then, the team has completed presentations in Static Consumer Acceptability, Vehicle Testing Complete, Technical, Controls, and Outreach categories. All of the presentations were very well received by the judges.
So now, it’s almost time to find out how everyone did. The level of competition this year was extremely high, and all of the teams put together very impressive vehicles. Stay tuned to twitter and facebook for live updates from the awards ceremony!
