Description:

The goal of the VPMS project is to provide a system for tracking and monitoring MDOT owned vehicles for the purpose of maintenance, accountability, management, logistics, and operations optimization. The VPMS project consists of a small tracking device that is installed in the vehicle where it monitors vehicle parameters using the vehicle diagnostic port and an attached GPS. The position and vehicle data is relayed over cellular internet service to a web server where the data is stored. The data can be viewed in real time or older data can be played back and reviewed.
