  • Golf – Las Vegas has quietly emerged among the United States' fastest growing golf destinations. http://www.lasvegasgolf.com/courses/
  • Spring Mountain Ranch (Higher elevation so cooler than Las Vegas) - Spring Mountain Ranch is located within the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, beneath the colorful cliffs of the magnificent Wilson Range. The many springs in these mountains provided water for Paiute Indians and later brought mountain men and early settlers to the area. This 520 acre oasis was developed into a combination working ranch and luxurious retreat by a string of owners who have given the area a long and colorful history. Past owners of the ranch included Chester Lauck of the comedy team "Lum & Abner, " German actress Vera Krupp, and millionaire Howard Hughes.

  • Red Rock Canyon (higher elevation so cooler than Las Vegas) - Red Rock Canyon is a narrow valley that lies just about 15 miles west of downtown Las Vegas and is one of the most scenic places to visit in the Southern Nevada area. 'Red Rock' gets its name from the red colored sandstone formations found throughout this small valley. The layers red sandstone in the mountains that surround Red Rock Canyon can be seen from almost anywhere in Las Vegas. http://www.sunsetcities.com/redrock.html
  • Mount Charleston – Mount Charleston is thirty minutes to an hour from downtown Las Vegas. An average of 20 to 30 degrees cooler than Las Vegas, Mt. Charleston is perfect for picnicking, hiking and horseback riding. A small waterfall in late spring/early summer may be seen on the Cathedral Rock hiking trail. The Robber Roost trail is well know for its use by robbers to outfox law men. A few restaurants may be found on Mount Charleston. The mountain has breath taking scenery and a bird's eye view of the Las Vegas Valley.

  • Valley of Fire (hotter than Las Vegas) - Valley of Fire State Park is located about 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas via Interstate 15 and on exit 75. The valley derives its name from the red sandstone formations and the stark beauty of the Mojave Desert. Ancient trees and early man are represented throughout the park by areas of petrified wood and 3,000 year-old Indian petroglyph. Popular activities include camping, hiking, picnicking and photography. The park offers a full-scale visitor center with extensive interpretive displays.

  • Desert Princess Boat Ride - A ride on the Desert Princess Cruise Boat in Boulder City is a wonderful way to experience Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. The Mississippi style paddle wheeler will take you on onto the sparkling waters of the lake and provide you with entertaining tidbits of local history.   • All Terrain Vehicles (ATV) Adventure and Gold Mine Tour (Techatticup Historic Mine Camp) - Mine tour in a ghost town of the historic Nelson-Searchlight Mining District / Nelson's Landing.
