Biography:G. Marshall Molen received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University in 1974. After graduation he was employed at The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, California, and later was selected as Director of Research and Development for ESCO Manufacturing Company in Greenville, Texas. He began his academic career at Old Dominion University in 1978 and was actively involved in research in the pulsed power area with particular interests in high voltage spark gaps. He was later promoted to Professor of Electrical Engineering and was appointed Director of the Physical Electronics Research Institute. He became Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in 1985. In 1987 he relocated to Tennessee Technological University as chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering, and in July 1992 he accepted a position at Mississippi State University where he served as department head for Electrical and Computer Engineering until 2002. He currently serves as team leader for APS and is the principal investigator for the MSU Radar Power program sponsored by the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command. In his current position as the Diversified Technology/Ergon Distinguished Professor he is involved with unique power applications employing modern power electronics.
