Biography:Born in Poland, graduated from the Jagiellonian University, got his Ph.D. in Physics from the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Krakow (Poland).

As a research associate in Krakow, Nijmegen, NL, and Syracuse, NY, did experimental high energy physics, developing software and analyzing data from hadron-hadron collisions at CERN (Geneva, CH) and e+e- annihilations at CESR (Cornell Univ, Ithaca, NY).

In 1992 converted to Computer Science. Started with high performance computing, developing methodology for parallel computing, including HPF/Fortran90D language and compilation system, as well as HPF and MPI applications.

Since 1996 devoted to object-oriented distributed and Web-based technologies. Co-developed the WebFlow system, and used it as a high level, visual user interface for Globus metacomputing toolkit, as well as the middle-tier solution for a computational web portal: the Gateway system.

In 2000 moved Deep South to continue research on architectures and implementation strategies uleashing the power of Grid Computing: environments that extend a desktop computer by providing a seamless access to remote computational resources (hardware, software and data) empovering a scientist or engineer not only to achieve better results faster, but also to achieve what so far has been preceived as unachievable.

At the Center for Advanced Vehicular System he created and leads the Cooperative Computing Group that develops a cyberinfrastructure for various scientifc and engineering applications with the recent focus on design optimization, multiscale simulations, and the rapid prototyping of the scientific distributed applications.

Research Interest:

The current interests include autonomous computing - a cyberinfrastructure capable of self-configuring, self-optimizing, self-healing, and self protecting, adaptive parallel applications, and distributed simulation environments.
