| Biography: | Dr. Lugo received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University, M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico, and B.S. in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from Instituto Tecnologico de Pachuca, Mexico. His academic background is in mechanical design, solid mechanics, and fatigue and fracture mechanics. He joined to the Engineering Mechanics and Materials Science Research Group at CAVS in 2010 where he is currently a Postdoctoral Associate. Prior to coming to MSU Dr. Lugo has held faculty positions as an Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor at Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico, from 1985-2005. In addition he has conducted several consulting projects with Mexican industries. |
| Research Interest: | Solid mechanics, fatigue and fracture mechanics, damage evolution, mechanical behavior of materials, finite element analysis, stress analysis, numerical modeling of fatigue crack growth, and acoustic emission to predict damage in metal alloys. His primary research is to develop damage and multiscale fatigue material models based on mechanics-experiments and microstructure characterization to predict the mechanical behavior to optimize mechanical designs. |
