Biography:Dr. Hongjoo Rhee earned his Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, and M.S. and B.S. degrees in Metallurgical Engineering from Inha University, Incheon, South Korea. He held positions as a Post-doctoral Associate at CAVS, Mississippi State University, 2006-2009; as a Visiting Research Associate, a Research Assistant, and a Teaching Assistant at Michigan State University, 2000-2005; as a Research Staff at Inha University, 1998-1999, and worked as an Assistant Manager and a Research Staff at R&D Center for Metallurgy, KIA Steel Co., Ltd., Seoul/Kunsan, South Korea, 1992-1998.
Research Interest:

materials/mechanical properties characterization, bio-inspired safety systems characterization, laser engineered net shaping (LENS) process optimization, microstructure-property relations characterization, ceramic functionally gradient materials (FGM) designing/manufacturing process, lead-free solder joints characterization, steel manufacturing process, specialty steels development/evaluation, heat treatments, nanoindentation, thermomechanical fatigue (TMF), stress relaxation, plasma sprayed coatings characterization.
